I usually believe students. I give them the benefit of the doubt, and like to think they are truthful. So imagine my surprise last semester when a student handed me an obviously fake doctor's note to explain missing a test. It was hand-cut with scissors, with typos and inconsistencies that were embarrassingly easy to spot. I'm not sure if I was more offended by the lying or the assumption that I was dumb enough to be fooled by such poor lying.
F for the course, no explanation needed. I hope the student got the money-back guarantee. (Yes, that is the real website - I don't recommend it.)
