A few semesters ago I was printing out tests for both Legal Environment and Business Law. At the same time. And because lots of people were using the printer, I did batches of 5 so that people wouldn't have to wait.
So I distributed the tests to the class, and after 5 minutes I noticed a student who was visibly distressed. Sweating, pale - she looked like she might pass out. After a few more minutes she raised her hand. Sure enough, I had mistakenly placed 5 Business Law tests (ACCT 348) in the Legal Environment pile!
I was mortified! I try very hard to make everything perfect for my classes, and this was about as big a blunder as I could imagine! But it also helped me teach from a better place. We are all human. We all make mistakes. Not everything will always work out. If we recognize this in ourselves, it is easier to allow it for others.
I still like things to be perfect. But bear with me when they aren't. I'll do the same for you.
P.S. The other four students (all guys) didn't even realize they were taking the wrong test. That was a bit concerning, too.
