Respect the Clock/Respect the Calendar

We are all busy. We all have commitments outside of class. And your time is just as valuable as mine. With that in mind, I do my best to adhere to two principles throughout the course.

First, I start and end class on time, so please be in your seat and ready to go when the clock strikes the hour. (You, not your backpack.) That's when I take attendance, and late = absent.

Second, the syllabus includes the plan for the entire semester, including test dates and assignment dates. I will stick to this schedule barring some unforeseen circumstances that require me to cancel class, and you can be confident that dates will not change. When I was a student, I always thought it was unfair and disrespectful when professors would start shifting and sliding their dates. I won't do that without good reason.
