Do Better (9 Easy Steps)

Here is how I recommend you approach the course:

Step 1: Read the assigned readings before class. (Yes, really.)

Step 2: Come to class ready with the basics, ready for me to fill in the context and make the important connections.

Step 3: LISTEN in class, and take enough notes to be able to recall the conversation later.

Step 4: Ask questions about any point that is not crystal clear. I'm not a mind reader. ASK!

Step 5: After class, print out the PowerPoints and put them in your handy-dandy 3-ring binder that you purchased just for this class.

Step 6: Later in the day, or the next day, using the PowerPoints and your notes, recreate in your mind the discussion that we had, and make an outline of the important points. Put that in your 3-ring binder as well.

Step 7: Do the MindTap online homework.

Step 8: This is very important. Find a willing listener (friend, roommate, grandma, significant other, pet) and explain to them the legal concepts that we covered. If you can explain them to someone unfamiliar with the topic, then you really know the material. Talk it out.

Step 9: Repeat.
